Monkey Drills: Subtraction features timed math drills similar to those used in modern elementary classrooms in an easy to use, game-like format for iPhone and iPad. With 26 carefully crafted difficulty levels, the application provides a smooth transition from beginner level to mastery of single digit subtraction. Our simple, uncluttered, pick-up-and-play design allows children to focus on the math as the application advances seamlessly through difficulty levels while tracking performance. Each round is one minute in length. Subtraction problems are randomly generated according to difficulty level and presented sequentially. Players answer using numbered buttons and are given immediate feedback for any incorrect responses. Teachers or parents can select a "performance target" for the number of problems to complete during each one minute round. A minimum accuracy requirement can also be chosen. Players meeting or exceeding the performance and accuracy targets during a round are given credit for "level passed" and automatically advanced to the next level. Checkmark "trophies" are displayed following each round, providing positive feedback and allowing players to easily view their progress. The trophy checkmarks are also numbered, indicating when a student meets a higher performance target than the one assigned. Monkey Drills: Subtraction is designed to function equally well for both home and classroom use. An optional reset feature clears all trophies and previous level progress, allowing each student to pick up the game and work towards an individual achievement goal.
